About 17 km from the city center from Durian Roundabout, La Plantation pepper farm is 20 hectares large, built by a French businessman in 2013, starting the first crop and welcoming tourists to visit and experience since 2016. January is a good time to visit La Plantation however the dirt road is difficult and very dusty. Created in 2013, La Plantation is committed to growing and supplying the finest sustainable spices. This organic spice farm follows a century-old tradition of preserving the original flavor of each spice. Located in Kampot, southern Cambodia, this farm creates new mixes and recipes every year, bringing unique flavors to tables around the world.

Special things at Kampot Pepper Garden 

The lobby is considered a museum displaying pepper products from the farm. The house is made entirely of wood, built from a temple, so visitors need to remove their sandals to show respect for the monks.

In the lobby, there are many types of pepper produced by the farm, packaged from large to small, with prices ranging from about 8 USD to 100 USD, depending on the type. Pictures and operations of the farm are displayed here.

In the lobby, food and drinks are served. Food costs from 7 USD, drinks cost about 3 – 5 USD. The drinks here have a very special, very “strange” flavor, made from products from the farm, often with pepper or pepper flowers, a very natural taste.

The entrance fee is free, so when you have food or drinks, you will be guided by a guide on a free tour of the pepper farm for about 30 – 45 minutes. They often arrange guests into groups for easy sightseeing, and have English, French, and Khmer guides.

Pepper here is produced organically, in a traditional way to retain its original flavor. They are sold in many domestic supermarkets and exported to more than 20 countries around the world at high prices. 

The tour guide will take you to explore the pepper gardens, explain the production process of different types of pepper, and visit the factory as well as worker accommodation. The introduced farm has more than 100 workers, there are many types of paste from black, red to white, and the different flavors will be difficult for non-gourmets to distinguish.

In addition, on the farm there are English and French classes taught directly by English and French teachers to local students, who are children of workers working on the farm. In addition, the cooking class of traditional Khmer dishes for foreigners is equally interesting.
