1.2 The story of Phu Tu Island in Kien Giang
An old story tells that, in the past, there was a large boat in this sea that often sank boats and ate fishermen. At that time, at the foot of An Hai Son mountain, there was a father and son who lived by fishing. Because they were so dissatisfied with this situation, they were determined to destroy the bamboo boat to eliminate harm to the people. After many failed battles, the father planned to use his body as bait to lure the dragon into the trap. He poured poison all over his body and lay down next to the sea’s edge. The dragon fish then rose up to eat the father’s flesh and immediately got poisoned and died.
The son went to look for his father but only found a part of the body lying by the beach, so he kept hugging and crying. Unexpectedly, the poison seeped into the son’s body and he also passed away. Moved by the heroic sacrifice and love between father and son, the sky stormed continuously for many days. From the place where they died before suddenly rose two rocks, one large, one small.
